Reasons of the Civil War
The main reasons that caused the civil are slavery, Expansion of slavery, and tariffs.
Slavery
Slavery was one of the big issues. The South wanted to keep slavery but the Abolitionists Movement threatened this. Harriet Beecher Stowe was an abolitionist, she wrote a book called Uncle Tom`s Cabin. Uncle Tom`s Cabin is about 3 African American slave who are sold and the book follows their adventure. The book touched the hearts of millions, this only enraged the South because they claimed that slavery is not like that.
Expansion of slavery
The U.S. tried to keep a balance between free and slave states. The North was mostly industries/ factories, so they did not need slaves as much. But the South was mostly agriculture/farming, so they actually did need slaves. There were a few times when there was a problem between the balance of free and slaves states. For example the Missouri Compromise where Missouri was admitted a slave state and Maine a free state. With the exception of Missouri slavery was not allowed north of the 36 30 latitude.
Tariffs
Tariffs are a tax placed on imported goods so that the government can earn revenue off of bought goods. The South sold goods to England, but they were repaid in credit not money. So the South could only buy the more expensive British goods instead of the cheaper American goods.
